Fei Cui Jadeite - Separating Type A from Treated and Imitations

This practical gemology workshop aims to equip you with the understanding of jadeite formation and structural characteristics, which will underpin the subsequent techniques to separate Type A jadeites from:
Type B (acid bleached and resin impregnated)
Type B+C (acid bleached and resin impregnated + artificially dyed)
Type C (artificially dyed)
Colour enhanced through polishing compounds
Heat treatment
Coating
Imitations

There will be a short quiz in the 4th session to consolidate the learnings. This workshop to enable participants to be confident in selecting for Type A jadeite and it is not a workshop on separating Burmese from Guatemalan jadeites.

Participants will be required to use a handheld 10x triplet loupe extensively during the workshop. Ideally some prior experience with a loupe is helpful, otherwise please reach out to enquire before registration.

In the spirit of knowledge sharing in a relaxed environment, buying and selling of gemstones and jewellery is strictly not permitted.
