Gather and depart from Bangkok (about 4-hour journey)
Check into hotel
Lunch
Visit small open-pit gem mine and experience mining like how it is done in most sapphire-bearing locations (plus you get to keep what you mined!)
Dinner then free and easy
4 Sept 2026, Friday
Visit Chanthaburi Gems and Jewellery Centre (including the museum) to see the designs and workmanship available, and maybe purchase some for yourself/loved ones.
Lunch
Visit local dealers to see the wide variety of gemstones available in the historic main market, from finished jewellery to loose gemstones to rough stones
and/or
Rent a table and experience negotiating and buying your precious gemstones with the help of a professional gemologist (no buying obligations, you can sit there and watch how others do it too)
Dinner then free and easy
5 Sept 2026, Saturday (This is the busiest day in the historic market)
10am - 5pm: Rent a table and experience negotiating and buying your precious gemstones with the help of a professional gemologist (no buying obligations, you can sit there and watch how others do it too)
Gemstones we are likely to encounter - sapphires, rubies, tourmalines, spinels, garnets
If everyone has had enough of buying, we can leave the table to visit the shops in the area too.
Dinner then free and easy

Depart for Bangkok (about 4-hour journey)

What is covered in the fees?
1. Guidance of professional gemologist to check and QC the gemstones before purchase
2. 3-night of hotel room (standard twin/double bedroom to yourself unless you choose to share)
3. Transport to and from Bangkok, and within Chanthaburi
4. Fee to enter the open-pit mine for mining
5. Table rental to experience buying gemstones
6. Plenty of Thai sunlight
7. Disappointment of not seeing the particular gemstone you are looking for
What is not covered in the fees?
1. Air tickets to and from Bangkok
2. All meals
3. All your own purchases from gemstones to snacks and drinks
4. All additional purchases at the hotel
5. All transport cost after arriving back in Bangkok
6. All service fees for gem lab reports
Why 3-6 Sept 2026?
Bangkok will be having their main gems and jewellery fair from 8 to 12 Sept 2026. If time is not an issue, you can extend your stay to visit the fair. If anyone requires the service of a professional gemologist to accompany for purchases at the fair, please enquire separately.
Early-bird price of S$999 per pax is until 6 June 2026 only or until limited early-bird vacancies are filled. Specific details on where to meet up etc will be shared after registration and payment confirmation. All payments are non-exchangeable or refundable once confirmed.
