Our founder and laboratory director, Teo Wei Hong, is a gemologist professionally trained by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the foremost authority on the study of gemstones. His work in raising the standards of gemology internationally has earned him the lifetime title of Accredited Senior Gemologist by the Accredited Gemologists Association, the first and only in Singapore.

His recent research publication on his world-first discovery of evidence of heat treatment in tsavorite garnets in the Fall 2025 issue of the authoritative, peer-reviewed, scientific journal The Journal of Gemmology by the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and SSEF is a testament to his work internationally.

The laboratory continues to invest heavily into widening gemological database with a growing library of sample references collected directly from sources, and frontier technologies to improve service accuracy and efficiency. For example, GemRight Gemology is the first in Singapore to employ applied use of Deep UV in screening synthetic diamonds from natural diamonds quickly and affordably, spanning fine jewellery to luxury watches with after-market diamonds.
