











Ruby Intermediate - Oct 26, Sun, 12-5pm
This is a deep-dive into the practical study of rubies for enthusiasts, collectors and traders who are looking to deepen their knowledge and collection of fine rubies. The aim of the course is to build confidence in trading in low-tech environments.
The course will cover:
Colour grading
Cut grading
Clarity grading
Trade term conundrums and gem reports
Treatment detection
Differentiating natural from imitations and synthetics
Trade discussion
There will be ample time for hands-on practice using the handheld 10x loupe. Participants who are not familiar using the 10x loupe should consider enrolling in the coloured stones essentials first. This course will also make use of the handheld calcite dichroscope (available for purchase or bring your own).
You will receive the ruby section of GemRight’s gemstone encyclopaedia, gem cloth, a pair of tweezers, plastic caliper and a colour grading card as part of the course fee.
100% attendance and passing of the final identification test is required to obtain the certificate.

Teo Wei Hong. Founder and laboratory director of GemRight Gemology. GIA Graduate Gemologist and GIC Dip. Jadeite (upcoming). First and only awardee of AGA lifetime Accredited Senior Gemologist in Singapore. Also a trained adult educator with Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance from Singapore’s Institute of Adulting Learning and SUSS.
